Russ Mozier shot this video on May 30, 2005 of Michael Moore competing in the indoor quad line competition at WIKF (Wildwood International Kite Festival). Michael is flying a Lee Sedgwick UFO as a quad with cool chop-stick handles. I went out at lunch today with my new YFO/UFO/Airyo-ish kite and had a go at flying it as a quad. The kite performed much better than I expected and there are lot’s of areas to tweak. I attached the with 90 degrees between each tow point. ( 11 and 2, 5 and 8 on the face of a clock). There wasn’t much wind but it performed very well.. Turning is a little weird; the kite is round which makes it difficult to tell which end is up . Continue reading
Rich Durant from Oregon posted a topic on the kitebuilder.com forums about Lee Sedgwick’s latest creation, the
YFO(correction Lee emailed me to say that the new kite is called the UFO – Ultimate Fun Object). The UFO took home the most innovative award at the AKA Convention in Seaside Oregon this year. The disc shaped kite/toy is about 46″ in diameter and can be flown in quad-line, single line and no-wind single line configurations. Continue reading
