New Years Eve Picnic

Every new years eve we spend time with two good friends, Scott and Linda. We usually gather at our place or theirs for finger foods, games and a movie but this time we decided to try something a little different. Linda suggested that we take a hike on the property that Valerie and I purchased and have a picnic. We bundled up and drove to our new lot. We hiked down through the snow to the lake and found a clearing to setup for the picnic. Linda made a beautiful fish chowder with salmon, haddock and shrimp (a few cardamon pods and chili for spice and an interesting flavour). Scott heated the yummy chowder on his Pepsi can stove and in a few minutes we were enjoying delicious chowder. After the chowder and cheese biscuits we had a decadent dessert of brandied cherries, cake and Hershey’s chocolate sauce.. mmmmmm….

We hiked out and went to our place for a game of Cranium and a movie. We had a great time…

See the pictures here :D

Plans for the really cool pepsi can stove are here.

Happy New Year..!!!

  1. Bill,
Happy new year to you and your family. Nice activity that you did here for new years eve. Every time we go to my parents during winter, we go to their camp in the forest for a meal and have fun with the kids in the snow. I love nature. Nothing can replace that. I guess this is why I love flying kites. ;-)
