After building my first “Le Virus”, and being so pleased with the result, I have started to turn the second sail into a kite.
I made a few changes from the last kite I built…
- 1/4″ seams on the sail panels
- Mylar backed nylon for the winglet spar pocket
- Half circles for the stand off reinforcement
- mil-spec parachute gross-grain for the trailing edge
I am sure there will be a few more as I progress…
I have to say that I am very pleased with the variable Bias binding foot that I purchased for my Pfaff 1222. It’s from Nancy’s Notions, and is an excellent tool for binding pre-single-folded bias tape/gross-grain on kites. I bought mine from Trudy’s Sewing room but you can get it online as well.
